1) The major question I feel like I didn’t answer well was my knowledge of culture and diversity. Specifically, I talked in depth about working with individuals with diverse ethnic backgrounds, but I did not think of diversity variables such as age, gender, SES, education level, etc. You should be prepared to talk about your clinical experiences (i.e., what they were, what your role was, were there any ethical issues that came up, etc.). For example, I worked as an in-home behavioral therapist for nonverbal autistic children, and we spent the most time talking about that during the interview. Finally, I can’t say if this question was specific to my program or not, but we also talked in length about self-care activities and time†¦show more content†¦All faculty members are willing to sit down and chat with you about research ideas, issues with the program, or anything else that may come up. In addition, they are very open to new ideas and feedback from stud ents. Finally, based on my experiences, I would say that is true of all faculty members, which is one of my favorite components of this program. 4) Yes, this is generally true. Unfortunately, Psy.D. programs tend to be very expensive and most students, myself included, took out loans to pay for school. Tuition is around 33-35,000/year. The professors are aware of this drawback, as many of them went through it as well. At MWU specifically, there are not opportunities for assistantships/fellowships, but you can participate in work study, whereby you can make up to $3000 throughout the course of the year. In addition, the faculty is good about making students aware of loan forgiveness programs that you can apply for after graduation. These programs are ones that will pay back some, most, or all of your student loans. Some general examples include working on Indian Reservations, rural areas, non-profit organizations, and the military. One of close friends in the cohort applied for and received the Navy scholarship, which guarantees her an internship, and loan forgiveness if she works for the military for at least several years.
